Peer Review tech. Review.

In D’Anna Torres’ technical review she decided to write about the well-known toy etch a sketch. I thought this was a really nice idea for a topic, it being nice and fun. The part of the description which I found the most interesting was the end of the first paragraph. This is because, she wrote about the origin of the toy, which I had no idea about, plus her own experience with it in a nice passive, non- dominating way. Learning about the origin, something new, about something you and most people are so familiar with is a good way to hook the reader to the writing. It couldn’t have been placed better, it being at the beginning was perfect and got me excited to read the rest.

I don’t think there was a part that I found uninteresting. I wanted to read each topic she wrote about, but then again maybe I’m just the targeted audience for this. If I had to choose, of say the references if it counts. Reading what the references were probably had to be the least interesting part.

I think the readability and clarity of the text are as good as they could be. I had no problems reading it or understanding what she wanted to express. The paragraphs of the paper do progress logically and have a proper flow to them as well, going from the introduction to the mechanics and then interior and exterior. Unfortunately, the conclusion was not complete, which is the only upset, in my opinion, to the paper. So, it ends somewhat abruptly. Besides that, it never falls flat.

I think the paper does rely evidence highly, but does have healthy sprinkle of her intuition. Mostly due to the fact that she owned an etch a sketch herself.  An example of this is when she stated the general color scheme of an etch a sketch but also stated they can come in different color schemes like hers. She could’ve written more in-depth to make it more objective if anything, so the opposite of omitting certain passages.

The writer used language appropriately. It was clear and easy to understand. Her sentences weren’t too long or wordy and they didn’t trail off. Even though it was a college level technical description I’m sure whoever the audience is will be able to grasp on what is being said.

All the citations seem to be correct including that of the images which were useful to see what she was talking about. The table of contents was helpful and simple, and yes the object, was split into appropriate subparts.
